A beautiful poem by Khazina.
Khazina describes herself as a daughter of many lands. Born and brought up in Kenya, she has now settled in Solihull where she devotes time between being a mother of two and her career as a Pharmacist. Her interests include poetry and poetic prose.
Life like the sea so
Ravenous so raw
Has awoken me with salt in my eyes
Against this vastness my insignificance
Erupts through humbling tears and cries
Then Pearls of submission reflect so clearly
My pure awe of the one and only
Running
Over stretches of time
With a child’s delight a youths prime
And echoing joy lifts the spirit
Songs of truth rise within it
As I watch garlands of gold on my feet
Washed by waves that hug and greet
shy mists of shimmering moonlight
Whispering to my inner self
Celebrate the gift of breath
Celebrate this toil and sweat
Enraptured with a euphoric sway
I move deeper and deeper this mould of clay
Clasping at foams of faith
I pray for you to carry me through the
Limitless ends of understanding
From peaks to brooks streams and rivers
Flowing with scents of purpose and being
closer to the truth of knowing
this mortal form of dust
For I may just drown in waters of ignorance
I may just die on islands of regret
Save me I plea from this life like the sea
So ravenous so raw
